 On
February 8, 2003, the Washington State chapter of the VHPA was hosted by the
446th Airlift Wing at McChord Air Force base. The members gathered for lunch in
the base’s award-winning Olympic Dining Facility—greeted by the proudly hung
chapter banner. The choices of food were many and all were deliciously prepared.
Approximately 7 “well-done” comment cards were left or mailed back to the dining
facility and everyone signed the guest book. After lunch, we were bussed to the
flight line where Senior Master Sergeant Derek Bryant led the group on a
comprehensive tour of a C-17 “Globemaster III” parked on the flight line. The
4-engined C-17 is one of the largest cargo aircraft in the Air Force’s arsenal.
