1045 – 1115 Meeting and reports of the organization.
Business meeting:
- Pat Staeheli opened the meeting
- New members were welcomed.
- Pat provided summary report of the February 2004
meeting at Gray Army Airfield, Fort Lewis. Doug Decker, Secretary, did not
read the additional detail from that meeting, and approved and moved on with
the meeting.
- Skip Blaksley presented the treasures’ report; the
organization has $4,602 on hand as of June 2004.
- Pat sent post cards to the entire membership on our
current list. Prospective new members also received post cards thanks to
the efforts of Jack Salm. Therefore, the sign-up list shows several new
names that are not listed in our current VHPA WA roster. Col. Holloman’s
presentation regarding the history of Black American Military pilots, and
the Olympic Flight Museum Air show featuring World War II airplanes and
Vietnam era helicopters brought more people to our VHPA chapter meeting.
- Pat read the chapter information from the VHPA
newsletter on the status of state chapters. We are a separate entity and
only associated but not affiliated with the VHPA main organization.
- Pat is looking to have our next meeting at Fort Lewis
again and have Gen. Pat Brady as our speaker in Mid October. He has enlisted
our help as a point of contact to reach Gen. Brady. Other locations might be
Everett Naval port or Olympia Flight Museum again.
- We are also planning for a large group to join us at
the Auburn Veterans Day parade, November 6, 2004. We will have the
helicopter from the Olympia Flight Museum again. Pat also plans the have the
updated membership rooster ready for this meeting. See note below from the
Olympic Flight Museum Events schedule.
- Other members from Eastern Washington mentioned that
would also like to see either another chapter started on the east side of
the mountains, or at any rate to have a meeting over there on occasion.
- Another plan is to have the April 29, 05 meeting at
Pacific Beach. This is a Navy resort location with RV park sites.
- ‘Crispy Cream donuts’ were provided for all, thank
you.
- Lunch was one of the many food courts available.
- Those who stayed after the meeting enjoyed the air
show of many types of aircraft including helicopters.
Notes of interest:
52 people signed in for the meeting. Some are not yet
members. See separate list for those present.
