WA Chapter of VHPAApril 30, 2005 Meeting Minutes Vietnam Helicopter Pilots AssociationMeeting & Briefing at The Museum of Flight, Boeing Field, Seattle, WA. Subject: Minutes of business meeting and other notes of interest. The business meeting was held between 09:00 and 10:00AM in the South View Lounge. Coffee and Rolls were served. While lunch was not provided, members ate at the Winds Cafe. Complimentary admission passes were provided for members so we could tour on our own until 18:00. We toured the Great Gallery, Personal Courage Wing, Airpark, simulators, and the museum store. A few members brought a camera for this great photo opportunity. Let’s try to share our photos on our web site.
Call or email Doug Decker for now. Meeting and reports of the organization: Business meeting: 09:15 Dave Rosenkranz, President, opened the meeting with an update on: a. The need for everyone to help keep the directory up to date, so we can contact everyone who is a member about upcoming events. It is very important for each member to contact the president and or the treasurer to keep his address, phone and email up to date. 140 invitation notices for this event via post cards were mailed and Dave received 3 back for a wrong address. Also very few did a RSVP, which is important to have for planning and paying for events. b. The only expense from the funds report is the expense for the Museum of Flight admittance and set up for the meeting. Skip our Treasurer was not able to be here today. c. Doug Decker read the long minutes report for the last meeting in Oct. 04, these were accepted as read. d. Dave updated us on the “Red River Rats, “Tet” dinner where 4 members joined with our fellow “Winged Warriors” who flew north of the DMZ. This sounds like an opportunity for more mutual times to share with each other. e. Dave will write a letter to Bill Vaughn for his set up, design and continued work on this exceptional web site. http://www.vhpawa.org/ We can post photos and stories here and we have had contacts to us from other people looking for men in our membership. They have made contact after all these years apart. Thank you Bill Vaughn. f. Jack Salm, Past President, and Jr. member at Large for the National VHPA, asked how many planned to attend the next convention in San Francisco and said the Stern-wheeler ship was already filled up for the fireworks on the bay. (Read the latest VHPA magazine for full information about this event. g. Available event dates for this year.

Dave ended the meeting by turning the lectern over to Don, the Museum of Flight representative who gave us an overview on the museum up to now along with future plans. As a note they do plan on a helicopter exhibit for the future. Don also mentioned the Paine field site, Everett WA, and no fee is required to view that site. We were then introduced to our Docent (tour guide) Owen Ashurst, also a retired military pilot who volunteers at the museum. See the attached pages for some pictures and info taken from their web site. MOF_The Great Gallery.doc End of business meeting. Notes of interest: 22 members and guests attended. List is below.
