Meeting Minutes

Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association

Meeting & Briefing at The Olympic Flight Museum and the Gathering of Warbirds , WA.

Subject: Business meeting minutes and other notes of interest.

The business meeting was held between 09:00 and 10:00AM in a hanger housing AH-1 Cobra.

1.               Dave Rosenkranz, our chapter president, opened & introduced new people present.

2.               Skip Blaksley gave the treasures report & we are in good shape. He announced the Fairchild Air Show was cancelled. His guests were Dale & Dona Morris.

3.               Dave explained the Directory is being updated and put on a disk.

4.               Banners are not yet finished but are on contract.

5.               The McChord Air Show is on schedule for July 30-31. http://public.mcchord.amc.af.mil/. We will have a table, a banner and Steve Garber has a sign up sheet for those who will help at the table or contact him before that date.

6.               The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for October 22 or 29 at the ARTCC at the Boeing Field FAA office near the control tower. This was a relocate from the Auburn facility.

7.               Dave introduced our guest speaker, Ann Weldon, VA Representative, Army Arizona National Guard officer, who recently returned from a tour of Iraq  in the Transportation Corps where she earned a Bronze Star. Her father and mother also attended as guests and attended the air show.

A)             Ms. Weldon provided a new VA reference handbook that is sold for $7.00 but for us at no cost. The briefing and question-answer period were based on highlights referenced in this book.

B)              At the end of the briefing Ms. Weldon was able to help several men in their signup and coordination with the VA for assistance.

8.               Dave closed the meeting and we went out to enjoy the air show and statically displayed aircraft, other vehicles and equipment from former wars. History on display.
