On Saturday, November 5th the Washington State Chapter of VHPA will join 214 other active duty, former military and other supporting groups in the 2011 edition of the Auburn Veterans Day Parade. This is the largest pro-military celebration in the entire Northwest. We invite you to come and join your brothers and march down Main Street beside our loaned Huey. Past years' experience have prompted us all to come prepared for everything from sunny and 70 degrees to 60 and rain, but rest assured, you will have a great time. The crowd really loves seeing the ‘old helicopter pilots’ and the beloved Huey. Logistics:You may either start your day with breakfast at 8:30 AM with other chapter members at the Auburn Senior Center, 808 Ninth St. SE, Auburn WA 9807, or just meet the chapter group at the intersection of E Main St and H St SE at 09:30 AM. In any case, we should be finished with this activity by about 1 PM. I look forward to seeing you all there. See the route map for details on where we will muster. Finally, the chapter is in need of assistance moving the loaned Huey from the Olympia Airport to Auburn and then back again to Olympia. Specifically, we need someone who has a truck with a tow package and the experience to move such as load to step forward and help us. We’re really thinking at we’ll need two individuals to safely move this load, so if you don’t have a truck, but know how it’s done, please feel free to step forward. Please contact Pat Staeheli at 253 859-4185 if you’d like to (do I say the
word?) volunteer. |
