Meeting Minutes, 1st
Quarter
Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association
Meeting at, Tacoma, WA.
Subject: Minutes of
business meeting and other notes of interest.
Opening of the meeting:
- Chapter president, David Eck, welcomed everyone. Bob
Brown held the flag and lead in the Pledge of Allegiance.
- An honored guest was to be there but apparently was
not felling up to it since his stroke some time back.
- David asked the members to stand who had flown the
different types of aircraft missions in country: air Cav / Loach / Cobra /
Hueys slick / Chinook / Flying crane / Navy / other aircraft, and who had
served in country the first years, these men were recognized.
Old Business: None conducted.
New Business:
- Treasurer’s report read by another member from Skip's
report. Current assets are $6,267.05. The report is through January 2009.
- No minutes read as no business was accomplished at the
last meeting during the Auburn Veteran’s Parade in November 2008.
- David Eck introduced guest speaker John Lee, Director
of Washington Veterans Affairs. He discussed the plans and actions of the
Washington VA in the deployment of a Washington brigade as it goes to Iraq
and the planned return to make for a smoother transition both ways for
soldiers and families.
- Doug Decker nominated Bob Brown (RW) to the position
of Jr. Member @ Large. He was approved as the other officers move up the
line. Doug also suggested that we ask for who would want to serve as the new
Sgt @ Arms & Mark Hanson took the challenge & was nominated and approved.
- Follow-up: Jack Salm brought a box of books to give to
the VA, passed to Bob Brown who added two more boxes of books and presented
to the VA at American Lake. A VA letter thanked us for 88 books donated this
2nd time. Good work folks, let’s keep it up, now is a good time
to clean up that library or ask neighbors to clean out there unwanted
paperback/hardback books. The letter says the books are really appreciated.
Update 3/11/09: More books delivered to VA American Lake by
Bob Brown. VA letter of appreciation recognized us again for 77 books donated
this time. Thank you.
Other event notes of interest: See photos posted on our web
site by our photographer Dan Fox. Dan gave out a DVD he composed on his duty in
RVN and RR. Great job Dan.

notices and send in your story.
