Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association
Meeting at Auburns 42nd Annual Veterans Day
parade, WA.
Minutes of 4th Quarter
business meeting and other notes of interest.
The meeting began 10:15 AM on Main St. while we waited for
the parade to start.
-
Chapter president, Chris Farwell opened the meeting
-
The move up of chapter officers was announced. Paul Fleming is our next
president.
-
The
secretary was moved to a ‘chapter officer position’.
-
The
treasurer was moved the ‘chapter officer position’ for life.
-
Dave Eck was nominated and voted in as Vice President
-
Mike
Magno was nominated and voted in as Jr. member @ large.
-
Bob
Brown was nominated for a new position and voted in as the “Sgt at Arms”. He
was also wearing a 1911 .45ACP for the parade today, symbolizing what he
carried in combat as a pilot.

Chuck
Brockway was introduced as a new member.
New Business:
-
The new
windbreaker jackets with VHPA-WA logo are now available. Get yours today for
the parade, and for later. Some were still available after the parade, see
the PX officer, this is the task of the new Jr. Member @ Large.

“Jack”
Salm is the VHPA National Vice President this year and will be up for
President next year. This would be a good time to plan on going to the next
reunion to support Jack if for no other reason.

A
big thanks to Pat Staeheli for setting up and organizing the parade and the
chapter paid breakfast operated by Auburn American Legion. Well Done Pat.

Old & other Business:
-
Your
elected officers decided on the donations to make this year, going to
American Lake VA and the Fisher House at Madigan Army Medical Center. These
came on the recommendations report of the Donations committee lead by Dick
Latimer. (The report is attached to the 6/16/07 minutes.) Also, donations
would be voted as a yearly event/project.

Local and
out of state “Motor Cycles” show up at military funerals, of current fallen
soldiers, with flags to shield the family of anti-war protesters. Thank you.

Chris
wants to do something for our friends in the eastern WA area. Ideas?
-
Chris
reports the “Email alert” is doing much better, thank you for keeping your
email address up to date.
-
Some
discussion ensued about a new tow-able Huey, but no conclusions.
-
We
can take our current/ old magazines to American Lake VA to share.
-
The
next meeting will be the 3rd Sat. of Feb 08 @ Famous Dave’s @ 72nd
& I-5, Tacoma, 11:00 hours.

Meeting concluded.
Other event notes of interest: We waited our turn to join
the very long parade and all 23 with 2 wives were in the parade. Doug Decker
took many photos and short digital videos, which will be posted on the web site.
